Crowborough Rotary Barn Dance 2026

We had our first-ever Barn Dance on 27 February 2026 which turned the Community Centre into a lively, laughter‑filled dance hall, with around 70 people stepping, swinging and promenading their way through the evening. What made it special wasn’t just the music or the movement, but the sense of camaraderie that filled the room from the first chord to the final bow.A night of dancing, music and cowboy spirit.

The Ceilidh band Tight Squeeze led dancers through reels, circles and do‑si‑dos, making sure everyone had a turn on the floor. Cowboy hats added to the fun—some bought on the night raising money for our charities: others proudly brought from home and a few guests arrived in boots ready for action. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed with smiles from those mastering the steps and those simply enjoying the spectacle.

Supper, drinks and a bit of a breather

Between dances, guests tucked into a generous ploughman’s supper bought and prepared by Penny, Lin with help from the two Sues. Several of you commented that you “weren’t expecting so much” but thoroughly enjoyed it—feedback gratefully received and noted for next year.

The bar team—Ken, Graham and Dom—kept everyone refreshed with beer, wine and soft drinks, adding to the easy, sociable feel of the evening.

The Bucket Bottle Bonanza

Our raffle proved a hit, with plenty of tickets sold for the Bucket Bottle Bonanza. The lucky winner, Sammy, summed up the moment perfectly:

“I never win anything and I’m so delighted to take home this amazing bucket of goodies – and all in a good cause!”

Her excitement captured the spirit of the night: light-hearted, generous and community‑minded.

Volunteers who made it happen

Events like this don’t run themselves. Huge thanks go to Annick for coordinating the evening so smoothly, and to Claire, Anna and Sam for volunteering their time and energy throughout. Their efforts helped create an event that felt polished, welcoming and full of heart.

Most of all, thank YOU

The biggest thanks go to everyone who came along, danced, laughed, supported the raffle and shared your feedback. Comments such as:

“Very well organised, friendly volunteers, lovely supper. Enjoyed the camaraderie and everyone having fun. The band were excellent.”

”This evening was FAB-U-LOUS Thank you”

…mean the world to us and help shape future events.

Ken, the President Of Crowborough Rotary, said “This was our first ever Barn Dance and thanks to ALL – the hard work by members and everyone’s support – it was a great success all round. We hope to be able to do this again.”
