A Record-Breaking Day of Community, Cars, and Charity
On Sunday 13th July the fields of Crowborough Rugby Club were transformed into a showcase of automotive excellence and community spirit as the Crowborough Rotary held its annual Car Meet. This year’s event drew in a record-breaking number of 147 vehicles.
We raised over a £1,000 for Hospice in the Weald, which means that this event has surpassed last years total, in both vehicles displayed and charitable funds raised.
There were a huge range of wonderful cars from veteran cars to current supercars with the passion of all the owners evident. We also had a fire engine and steam engine which drew people keen to admire their engineering. The gathering of bikes, though smaller in number, more than made up for it in style and significance, with each owner keen to share their love for two-wheeled adventures. Everywhere you looked, owners were proudly discussing their prized vehicles with visitors, exchanging stories, advice, and admiration. It was clear that the Car Meet wasn’t just about the cars—it was about the people and the shared joy of automotive culture.
While the vehicles took center stage, the true heart of the event was the charitable cause it supported. Crowborough Rotary has long been committed to making a meaningful difference within the community, and this year’s Car Meet was dedicated to raising funds for Hospice in the Weald—a charity providing essential care and support for individuals and families facing life-limiting illness. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of attendees and the tireless efforts of the Rotary volunteers, the event is set to surpass last year’s fundraising total.
Visitors enthusiastically purchased raffle tickets, with the prize of a ride for two in a 1920’s left hand drive Model T Ford donated by Graham Holland
Inside the Rugby club there was a sale of both new and pre-loved garments which raised additional funds.
“Every year the Car Meet grows, but this year was truly something special,” said Graham Bucksey “The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many people coming together to support Hospice in the Weald.”
The success of this event is owed to the hard work of Rotary members, the generosity of donors, the enthusiasm of vehicle owners, and the unwavering support of the Crowborough community. A special thanks is due to staff from Beacon Academy and members from Heathfield Rotary who generously gave up their time on the day to help us make this a big success.
